Tools / DOT date code

When was your tire made?

The last four digits of a modern tire identification number show the week and year of manufacture. Let’s decode them.

Enter only the four-digit date group, not the entire DOT identification number.

Where to look

Find the tire identification number near “DOT” on the sidewall. The full code with its date group may appear on only one side of the tire. If it is inaccessible, ask a tire professional to read it safely.

For example, 2424 indicates week 24 of 2024. Our tool covers four-digit codes used for tires manufactured since 2000. It estimates age from the manufacturing week; it cannot establish the exact day, service date or remaining usable life.

A date is one part of the picture

Inspect condition, follow the tire and vehicle makers’ guidance and seek professional help for damage, vibration or unusual wear. Never use the displayed age as a safety clearance.

For a recall lookup, keep the entire identification number and the full brand and model name. The date group alone is not enough.
