Read the rulebook before ordering
An autocross class, a time-attack competition and a track day may have different requirements. A tire permitted in one class may be excluded in another. Write down the allowed category, size limits and any specific model restrictions.
Then identify your car’s wheels, axle fitments and clearances. A recommendation for another driver’s class or vehicle can otherwise become an expensive mistake.
Describe the entire event day
Do you drive to the circuit in the rain or transport a separate set? Are you completing short timed runs or longer sessions? Is predictable behavior more valuable than a single fastest lap? These questions help a specialist recommend an appropriate product.
A road performance tire may be more practical for a car that also handles ordinary trips. A competition tire can require closer attention to temperature, water, wear and handling behavior. Read the exact instructions.
Use a deliberate pressure and inspection process
Do not copy a pressure target from someone driving another tire on another car. Seek application-specific guidance from the tire manufacturer or a qualified track support provider. Record conditions, pressures and wear.
Inspect tires and wheels before and after sessions. Damage, exposed cords or unusual wear require attention. A quick visual check alone does not establish that a heavily used competition tire remains appropriate for road use.
Plan the journey home
A street-legal marking does not make every competition product suitable for cold commuting or heavy rain. Check intended use and storage guidance, and arrange transport if the event tire is unsuitable for the journey.
